Things I Heart Right Now

Is it the phenomenal cast? I'm looking at you, Dame Maggie Smith. The not one but two heart wrenching unrequited love plot lines? The writing? I gasped and almost threw my shoe at my television during the season finale. Or the fact that I can watch it all for free on Netflix?

Don't know. Don't care. Just keep it coming, PBS.

You, too, Michael Ian Black. And for the record, it is rare that I sing the praises of a celebrity picture book author (fyi, there's not enough bold and italics in the world for that "rare"). This book almost made me pee my pants laughing. And there's so much truth in it. A pig parade is a terrible idea.

Kudos, Michael Ian Black.

And kudos to Lisa and Laura Roecker, also. Just finished The Liar Society. It rocked. Loved Kate's voice. Go buy it.

And, of course, 'tis the season to give these little guys a shout-out:

  1. I love the creme egg. What brilliant marketing to have the out just once a year.

I've never heard of Downtown Abby. I don't watch much TV. I keep planning to watch shows, but it never happens.

I'm waiting for my copy of Liar Society in the mail. The release date in Canada was delayed.

  3. OMG "Downton Abbey" was AMAZING!!!!!! I'm so psyched that they're going to have a second season. I'm just sad that it won't come out until next JANUARY!!!! Urgh!

  4. You know, I have never had a Cadbury creme egg. I think the wrapper bearing the word "creme" freaks me out.

  7. I just finished The Liar Society, too. I loved it! I'm waiting until I finish this round of revisions before I start watching Downton Abbey. Kind of like a reward:)

  9. Downton Abbey rocks! And a friend put me onto a good tide-you-over costume drama starring Brendan Coyle from DA--"Lark Rise to Candleford." It's set in an earlier period and there are FOUR seasons available through Netflix! The main character is a 16-yo girl from a tiny village who gets to move to the big market town to work with the postmistress. Great ensemble cast!

  10. Hmm, never heard of Downtown Abbey but I do have Netflix...distraction? :) I only know Michael Ian Black from his commentary on VH1, but "almost peed my pants laughing" is an instant seller for me!
